Getting in shape shouldn’t be a punishment. It’s an amazing and empowering lifestyle decision that anyone can make. I believe in finding the pleasurable side of fitness; and while there may be a sore muscle or two along the way, the benefits of fitness are worth the challenge. I have developed my training regime by working with a variety of people, and constantly adapting my program to the needs of my new clients. Working with Conor has been incredibly rewarding. He’s helped me gain a significant amount of muscle over the past year and has gotten me into better shape than I’ve been in years. Conor has been great at adapting workouts to my needs, helping me recover from knee injuries and surgery. Conor is an excellent personal trainer and a wonderful person. His workouts are always fun and never boring - he plans a lot of variety into them, and knows just how much to help motivate me to push my limits. Conor worked to reframe my long term goals in a way that helped me focus on the process, so the outcome would take care of itself. We developed a new, better way to engage with my training so that small changes in my behaviors could facilitate better choices. One of my favorite examples of this is when Conor suggested I delete the delivery apps Seamless and Caviar. That one choice had a disproportionately positive impact on my training. With improved nutrition came improved workouts. The sense of accomplishment pushed me to do more. And I still get to indulge in treats without impacting goals, I just do it from a more moderate perspective.
If we make enough of these small positive choices ever day, we create an environment that supports goal achievement while reducing resistance. I started working with Conor after a long pause in my workout schedule and gaining the covid-19 (literal) weight. I wanted to get back into shape, and make sure I keep my body healthy, having to work in front of a desk for most of my day.
Conor got me back into shape in a gradual process - there is a method to his madness. He is a 360 trainer who also cares about my mental well being as well as my nutrition. Conor started me off with foundation work and slowly without even noticing, he raised the level of effort, agility and power I put into my workouts (how sneaky).
I keep getting surprised by my abilities and wouldn't have been able to do it without the dedication and attention I get from Conor. Both in our workout and outside of it. Conor practices tough love in the best way possible, and I'm grateful to continue working with him as I reach my goals.
In the middle of October 2020, I met with Conor to discuss my fitness goals and desire to pack on some muscle. As a thin/skinny guy (5'11" and 122 lbs!), I set an ambitious preliminary goal of gaining 5 lbs of muscle mass by the end of 2020. Conor prepared a detailed routine targeting all muscle groups to ensure symmetric growth & development. My workouts consisted of weight training, muscle endurance, and some mobility & cardio.
For the next 10 weeks I started eating a daily caloric surplus of +500 calories, tracking macronutrients for every meal, and doing challenging heavy lifts 5 days a week. While I was committed and put in the necessary time and effort both inside and outside the gym, I don't believe I would have succeeded without Conor - a conscientious, diligent, and results-oriented personal trainer. He plans each workout in advance and ensures that you complete the entire workout with proper form and on time.
At my final weigh-in, I was genuinely surprised to have actually attained the goal I had set. I had gained 5 lbs of muscle while slightly reducing my body fat to under 10%. I intend to continue training with Conor and hope to put on an additional 10 lbs of muscle in 2021 while maintaining a low body fat (<10%).
Conor is a wonderful personal trainer. I began working out with him over a year ago, and have been very pleased with the results I’ve achieved with his support. Conor is an excellent motivator and also a very fun and kind person to be around and talk with, and he puts real thought into every session’s workouts which are consistently challenging but achievable. I’m very pleased to have begun working out with Conor and am excited to continue pushing for new fitness goals together.
